Ashley Suppa Drops New Single

The Pop genre is not the first place I look for new music, but “Trouble,” a new single from 18-year-old singer/songwriter Ashley Suppa, is worth checking out even if Pop isn’t “your thing.” Suppa’s voice is amazing, absolutely stunning. Velvety and strong, she shows off her chops in this new track.

“Trouble” starts off quiet and slow, making it feel like it’s going to be a sad sort of song. However when the beat jumps in, coupled with Suppa’s gorgeous voice, the song really comes to life. The lyrics talk about wishing a lover/friend would come back, inviting them to hang out and cause some trouble. It speaks to young love in a way many people can relate to, late nights full of silly lust and fun memories. It’s really catchy and has great pacing. The “la la las” at the end of the chorus will most likely get jammed in your head, but it will only make you want to play the song again.

While “Trouble” has a retro-meets-modern sound, it doesn’t sound like a literal copy of the music of the past. The references to her influences, like David Bowie, Bruno Mars, and Dua Lipa, are recognizable, but the sound is still her own. The song doesn’t have that overprocessed sound like a lot of modern Pop music, which allows Suppa’s voice to be the rightful star of the show.

Suppa’s first musical experience was at the very young age of 6, being picked to sing backing vocals for renowned guitarist Ace Frehley’s (of KISS) album “Anomaly”. By age 12 she was learning bass and taking vocal lessons, and by 15 she was writing her own songs and recording herself onto her laptop. Grammy-Nominated Producer Alex Salzman recognized her talent and immediately began working with her on a debut album. She has a clear passion for her music and her new single shows that off. At 18, she has a long music career ahead of her if she continues coming up with tracks like “Trouble.”

If you’re looking for something to jazz up your summer playlist, add “Trouble” to it. It’s funky and infectious and is sure to be a crowd pleaser. Suppa could give modern Pop music the redirection it needs as we get further into the 2020s. Fans have already begun to notice her talent. Ashley Suppa has thousands of followers on Instagram and almost 12K followers on TikTok. She’s already got the hardest part over with; getting people to listen to her music. Being able to connect with fans, especially on social media, is imperative for success in the music world today.

“Trouble” really shows what Ashley Suppa is capable of, and I don’t think it’ll be long before she has even more fans. Her voice is powerful and distinct, she seems to have focus and she’s able to pull from all her influences while infusing her music with her own signature. She’s an artist on the rise and someone to keep an eye out for.
